The Nelson U14 boys went undefeated at the Columbia-Kootenay play downs in Creston over the weekend defeating Kootenay-South 2-1 in their final game Sunday afternoon.

Dylan Whiffen opened the scoring four minutes into the first half, then in the 29th minute Bean Howard slipped one past the Kootenay South goalie who was caught out of position. In the second half Kootenay South got one back on a corner kick that Nelson goalie Cole Sutherland could not keep in his hands. Kootenay South fought back hard in the half forcing the play in the Nelson end, but the Selects did manage a few scoring opportunities of their own but outstanding play by the keeper held them to just the two goals.

On Saturday the Selects had wins over Creston and Kootenay East by identical 5-0 scores. The Selects will now represent the region at provincials in Aldergrove next month.
